Morning round

I ran across these photos of a wonderful morning I spent a) getting up too early; b) watching people who were passionate about golfing;and c) finding out why they love it so much.  I never swung a club, but I did learn why they get up early and savor each moment. My apologies to all the golfers I have dismissed over the years. I get it. Golf on.

Princess

This entitled princess lives in a lakefront home and is surrounded by collections of priceless glass collected from around the world. She's broken only one item, her owner claims. And she definitely rules the castle. I shot this photo after an interview with her owner. I was equally impressed with them both.

Test of time

Bosnian stone layer Mujo Sabic travels to the U.S. during construction season to craft stonework like this. I met him briefly in fall 2014 during a tour of Historic High Point in Victor with developer Fred Rainaldi. His accent was thick, his smile quick, and his skills mighty impressive. This curvaceous retaining wall holds back the hillside with grace, and looks like it will be standing strong for centuries to come. At first, Sabic was reluctant to have his picture taken, but when he finally obliged, his smile took my breath away.
